Connecting to WiFi on Windows 8: 10 Steps

A  lot  of  data  is  shared  over  wireless  network  these  days  and  WiFi  can  be  found  everywhere  from  homes  to  offices.  Every  operating  system  has  different  settings  for  WiFi  and  the  user  has  to  take  these    settings  into  consideration  before  connecting  over  wireless  network.  If  you  are  using  Window  8  operating  system  and  want  to  connect  your  system  to  wireless  network  so  that  you  can  browse  internet,  you  can  either  choose  to  contact  Windows 8 Technical Support Number  to  get  some  technical  help  or  you  can  read  the  following  instructions.

Steps  to  Setup  to  Connect  With  WiFi  in  Windows  8

  • First  of  all,  make  sure  that  your  wireless  card  is  enabled  as  some  devices  can  switch  the  wireless  on  and  off.  In  case  there  is  no  wireless  card  installed  in  your  system,  install  a  wireless  card  first.  You  can  check  if  your  wireless  adapter  is  installed  or  not  with  the  help  of  Network  Connections  window.  Open  the  Run  dialog  box  by  pressing  Windows  and  R  key  together.  Type    ncpa.cpl  and  then  press  OK.
  • Locate  your  wireless  adapter  in  the  following  list  and  if  it  is  disabled,  enable  it  by  right-clicking  it.
  • Now  open  the  Charms  bar  by  either  pressing  Windows  and  C  keys  together  or  swiping  in  from  the  right  side  of  the  screen.  In  the  bar  click  on  the  Settings  icon.
  • In  the  Settings,  press  on  the  Wireless  Network  icon  which  will  open  the  list  of  all  the  available  wireless  networks.  Now  toggle  on  the  WiFi  slider  to  allow  the  WiFi  connectivity.
  • You  will  see  a  list  of  available  networks,  in  which  select  your  desired  available  network.  In  case  you  don’t  see  any  network,  make  sure  that  you  are  close  to  router  to  receive  the  signal.  You  can  also  choose  to  connect  to  cellular  data  network  by  looking  into  “Mobile  broadband”  section.
  • If  the  WiFi  network  you  are  trying  to  connect  is  secured,  you  have  to  enter  the  password.  Ask  the  owner  of  the  WiFi  connection  if  you  are  not  aware  of  the  password.
  • To  avoid  the  inconvenience  of  entering  the  connection  information  every  time,  choose  to  click  on  the  “Connect  automatically”  box  so  that  whenever  your  device  will  come  in  the  range  of  WiFi  network  it  will  automatically  establish  connection.
  • If  you  are  using  public  network,  don’t  allow  sharing  as  it  will  protect  your  files  from  unwanted  viewers.
  • Now  open  a  website  on  a  browser  to  check  if  you  are  successfully  connected  to  the  network.
